Frequently Asked Questions

What age group is eligible to join PST and how do you join?

Membership is open to seniors age 50 or over who pay the annual dues and complete a membership card. A senior’s spouse/significant other may be under the age of 50. Join by attending a meeting to fill out the membership form and paying the $15 annual dues (by check).

Can you bring along friends or family members on these trips?

They must be a member to go on any motorcoach trip with the club.

What types of accommodation/lodging are generally used on these trips?

Our hotels are usually in the mid-cost range such as Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Drury Inn, or equivalent. On occasion, we may stay overnight in a resort.

What can you bring along on these trips: luggage, accessories, snacks, books, water?

Luggage is limited to one suitcase that goes in the cargo space under the bus. You may bring food, water, books. The carry-on bag must fit in the very small overhead bin or in the small space by your feet.

What types of transportation are used for these trips?

The typical transportation is a 54-passenger motorcoach, which we limit to 40 passengers to not feel crowded. Most motorcoaches also have charging plugs for iPhones/laptops and Internet connections. During the trip, we may take a boat, train, or ferry for a short time. There are also bigger trips that would be via airplane.

What if you have physical limitations – are these trips safe for you? What happens during a trip if there is an illness/injury?

A member must be able to walk up the motorcoach steps. A walker or cane is acceptable for mobility off of the bus. We have an emergency kit on the bus. Often, one of the travelers is a retired doctor or nurse to assist with interim care. If needed, an ambulance is called, and someone will stay with the traveler until family or friend makes transportation arrangements home. Each traveler completes a short medical form with emergency contact person and name of family doctor. This information is sealed unless needed by emergency personnel.

What are the dining/food options when traveling?

We stop for meals on the road. Usually breakfast is provided by the hotel. Some group meals are provided in the cost of the trip. Sometimes we stop at fast food or places like Cracker Barrel along the route.

What are the costs of these trips?

Since trips are planned, booked, and escorted solely by volunteers, the cost is very reasonable. Day trips are usually under $100 based on the group cost of theater tickets or other venues. Overnight and longer trips average about $150 – $200 a day.

How do I find out about the trips and learn more?

The best way to learn about upcoming trips is to attend a meeting which is held at 3 PM on the third Tuesday every month (except May and December) at Asbury Place, 750 College Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32504 (behind Cokesbury United Methodist Church).
